I finished reading this book this evening. If you're interested you can read my review on Suggestabook.com
Overall I'd rate it as an 8 out of 10.
Here are the instructions:
Instructions:
- Grab the nearest book. *
- Open the book to page 123.
- Find the fifth sentence.
- Post the text of the next three sentences on your blog along with these instructions
* 'nearest' means you can't rummage around for a 'cool' or 'intellectual' book. Really, whatever your hand falls on first. Let's hope it's not porn.
Here goes, from The Lovely Bones - Alice Sebold
"His brother was like a darker print of Samuel.
He was tanned, and his face weathered from riding his motorcycle full-titled down country roads.
As my family approached, Hal turned quickly and walked away."
Started reading this book again, and I have to admit, although it's still graphic and disturbing, it's not as hard to read as my first attempt.
I'm already 133 pages in (last time I only made it to page 80) and if I hadn't gotten tired so early last night I would have definitely read further. However, today I had a super early start to facilitate some training sessions so I had to insert the bookmark earlier than I would have liked.
When I bought the book yesterday (I gave my other copy away last year when I couldn't handle how disturbing the book was) the cashier said to me, "that is such an excellent book, you'll love it". I explained that I had tried to read it previously but found it tough because of the content and the sheer nature of read. Her response to me was classic. "Dear, you just have to remember that it's not real." lol I just shook my head and said thanks. Can you imagine??
I need a new book to read, something in the beliable category, something that pulls at the heart strings, but not a romance novel. Anyone have any suggestions?
Tks!
