Finishing the First Trimester and Racing Into the Second!

We heard the baby's heart beat today for the first time!! It was exciting and scary as hell as it took my OB 5 minutes to find it... apparently we have quite the little swimmer in there :) It was a truly beautiful sound, and quite distinct from my own racing heart beat... it's reminiscent to me of techno... that constant boom, boom beating in the background.

Just wanted to share our joy with the world! We are ecstatic!

I don't know if anyone has noticed it, down on the bottom right of my column is a cute little widget from babystrology. It shows the development of our little monkey and how many days we have left to go. Currently 201.

I often find myself staring at that floating little image, caught up in a day dream of what is to come. I'm caught between the "sunshine and roses" idea and the 'exhaustion and fear' one. Making a baby was easier than I thought, raising a child, well they say it takes a villiage for a reason I think.

We are unofficially 5 weeks and 2 days pregnant - with our first prenatal appointment on July 16th.

We are unbelievably excited!

Can anyone suggest some good reading to go along with the process? Right now I have "What to Expect When You're Expecting" and "The Pregnancy Journal".
